If you’re running out of space on your iPhone or iPod (or even iPad) chances are that music and movies will be taking most of the space on your device.
Firstly you should get an idea of what it is that is taking up all of your space, luckily iOS 5.x has a built in tool that will show you the details.
Start in Settings and from the touch General. Third option from the top you should find Usage. Touch that and after a few moments you will find that your iPhone will show you which apps are taking up all of your space.
So one way to start freeing up some space is to remove an app that’s really huge, particularly a game perhaps if you’ve not played it in a while.
Free up space after moving to iTunes Match.
Here’s a really good tip if you use iTunes Match. Firstly if you’re not familiar with it, iTunes Match is fairly new and allows you to store all of your music on Apple’s iCloud.
Now, if you had a large amount of music on your iPhone or iPad and then you’ve moved to iCloud chances are you still have a whole library of music on your device.
It’s very similar to the above steps but go one further. Touch Music then you’ll see that you’re given the opportunity to delete all of the music from your device. See the screen shot here.
