Preview that comes with OS X lion has always been a bit of an under appreciated little work horse. I use it a lot to annotate PDF, and images files all the time (hey even the one below, that little arrow – all Preview’s doing!)
With the update to Lion preview has a couple of nice little tricks that really have been mentioned that much in all the press huff about the new OS version.
Singing PDFs – Now you can with Preview
More now than ever you receive documents that need to be signed and then returned, to the bank, solicitor etc… It always seemed a bit silly to receive it by email, print and sign it – only to then scan it and send it back via email.
Well now you don’t have to!
When you have a PDF file open click the annotation icon to see the options as shown in the screen shot here.
The signature options, highlighted with an arrow here are where you can create a signature if you don’t already have one or insert one that you’ve previously created. Preview uses your iSight camera to take a picture of the signature, reverse it and stores it so you can re-use it.
So next time you’ve got documents to sign give this one a whirl and see how you go.
