So do you know how far it is from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayres Rock)?

Well neither did I – until recently. It’s funny because I’ve often told stories of overseas visitors that have no idea how big Australia is and set of some far away place believing that they’ll be there by lunch time. Well it was my turn, on a recent trip to the Northern Territory I found out the hard way.

What I’ve always wanted to do was drive from Alice Springs out to Uluru, they always looked pretty close together on the weather map so I ordered the car rental booked the flight and off we went.

Well the short answer is 460km. Takes most of a day, surprisingly. The road is long and straight, you share it with road trains 4 trailers long and yes there was red dirt – lots of it.

Anyway here are some photos I took along the way, there were lots of kilometres to find something interesting to shoot!
