There are some web applications on the iPhone or or iPad that you wish were actual iOS apps so you could run them natively on your device. Yes you can create a bookmark for a site and put it on your homepage, but who wants to do that? Well, I have found somewhat of a happy medium. It is called Fullscreen.me. Fullscreen.me is very similar to Fluid, which creates applications from web apps for the Mac. Fullscreen.me does this for the iPhone or iPad. Let me show you what I mean
The first thing you are going to want to do is go to your web browser on your iPhone or iPad. Then go to fullscreen.me. You will see a simple website that looks like the one above. Basically the site lets you create web apps for your iDevice. They already have some preset apps. Right now they are all Google related. But if there is another web application that you want to make you can just enter in the website url.
Once you create your web app. You can now press the “+” button. You will then be prompted with choices to figure out where to put this app. You are going to want to choose “Add to Home Screen.” This will now put the web app on your home screen.
Now you can go to your homescreen and see that the web app is there. When you click on it, you will see that the app will open up, without all the clutter of an actual webpage. It will feel more like an actual application. And that is the goal of Fullscreen.me, to give you the happy medium between a native app and a web app.
You definitely need to check this one out. I really like it and I am starting to try out different url’s. The one thing you want to make sure of is that you want to make sure that the website you are wanting to make an app out of is optimized for the iPhone or iPad. If not you may have some trouble with the website. And yes, this also works for the iPad as well. So, go and try it out and let us know what you think of it.
